Day 02 Beijing - Datong (Breakfast + Lunch)
Visit Tiananmen Square, the Forbidden City (the Imperial Palace) and the Summer Palace. Take the overnight soft berth train to Datong.

Tiananmen Square: Spreading 880 meters from north to south and 500 meters from east to west, Tiananmen Square is a place to hold national ceremonies and to greet foreign leaders. The square is seated at the very heart of Beijing in the traditional center axis. To the north of the square is the Forbidden City - the imperial palace during the Ming and Qing dynasties.
Forbidden City: The largest and best-preserved wooden architecture complex in the world. Located in the Beijing city center behind Tiananmen Square, the Forbidden City is encircled by a 52-metre-wide moat along the 12-meter-high wall. It served as the imperial palace for the 24 emperors in Ming and Qing dynasties from 1420 to 1911.
Summer Palace: The Summer Palace is virtually a museum of classical Chinese garden architecture. Covering an area of 290 hectares with water making three quarters of it, the Summer Palace consists of three functional areas: Court Area, Longevity Hill Area and Kunming Lake Area. Kunming Lake is most beautiful, and the best time to enjoy it is in the summer to take a cruise by boat and have skiing in the winter. In 1998, it was designated as a World Heritage Site and in 2007 it was officially authorized as a National 5A-leveled Tourist Attraction.
Day 03 Datong (Breakfast + Lunch)
Arrive Datong in the morning, our guide will meet you at the railway station. Tour to the Yungang Grottoes, the Huayan Monastery, the Nine Dragon Screen and Shanhua Monastery.

Yungang Grottoes: They were carved over l,500 years ago when, as the capital of the Northern Wei Dynasty (386-534), Datong, then known as Pingcheng, was the centre of feudal autocracy in northern China. There are 53 caves, with 51,000 carved statues and bas-reliefs. Thousands of labourers and sculptors worked for 34 years to complete the carvings which provide abundant material for studying the dress, architecture, music, dances, and art of the time.
Huayan Monastery: Originally a grand temple, the Huayan Monastery was almost ruined in wars but its Hall of the Bhagavan's Teachings still remains today. Thirty-one statues made in the Liao Dynasty (916-1125), treasured examples of ancient clay figure making, are kept intact in the hall.
Nine Dragon Screen: The Nine-Dragon Screen made from coloured glazed tiles and bricks dates back over 500 years - some 300 years older and much larger than the Nine-Dragon Screen in Beihai Park, Beijing, which is also considered a national treasure. It is thought that the making of dragon screens originated in Datong where the industry is still in operation today.
Shanhua Monastery: The monastery was first built in A.D. 713-741 during the Tang Dynasty, the entire monastery is a well-proportioned, well-preserved complex. It contains more than thirty Buddhist statues sculptured during the Liao and Kin dynasties, the most noteworthy being covered in gold leaf.
Day 04 Datong - Beijing (Breakfast + Lunch)
Visit the Yingxian Wooden Pagoda at Fuoguang Temple. Take the overnight soft berth train back to Beijing which takes 6.5 hours.

Yingxian Wooden Pagoda: This is the oldest and tallest wooden pagoda in China. Built in A.D. 1056, it is a sixty-seven-high-high octagon with a diameter of thirty meters at the base.
Day 05 Beijing (Breakfast + Lunch)

Great Wall Of China: The Great Wall is ancient military defence work which extends to more than 5,000 kilometers. The Badaling section is not only the best preserved but also the most impressive and representative section of the Great Wall. It is located roughly 70 kilometers northwest from the center of Beijing. It is a defensive outpost of the Great Wall occupying a commanding strategic position. The wall was made wide enough for five or six horses to be ridden abreast on its top. In peacetime, the Wall has proved useful as a highway, transporting people and supplies over large distances. Because of its magnificence and beauty of its scenery, Badaling gained the worldwide reputation by being enlisted in the World Cultural Heritage by UNESCO in 1988.
Ming Tombs: Located at 50 kilometers northwest of Beijing proper, the Ming Tombs are Mausoleums of 13 emperors from Ming Dynasty (1368-1644). Each tomb complex starts with a stone bridge, followed by a front gate, a stele pavilion, the Gate of Eminent Favor, the Hall of Eminent Favor, a watchtower and then the Precious Hall. Zhu Di, the third emperor of the Ming Dynasty, built his Changling Tomb, this is the best preserved tomb area. The underground palace at Dingling Tomb consists of an antechamber, a central chamber and a rear chamber plus the left and right annexes.
Beijing Duck Dinner: Beijing Roasted duck is renowned as the most delicious food of Beijing.
Peking Opera: China boasts of more than 300 local operas, Beijing Opera is the largest one among Chinese traditional opera types, which gradually came into being after 1790.
